When we talk about soul mates, we generally refer to the human kind and often describe our partners as our soul mate. Others may disagree and say soulmates can take many forms, not just partners. A soulmate could be a close friend, a sister or even an animal.
For passionate dog lovers, they would say their soul mate is absolutely their dog.
A soul mate is described as someone you can’t imagine your life being without. This is someone you would walk over hot coals for, go to the ends of the earth for, someone who completes you and you complete them.
It is not that hard really to imagine that a dog could be considered a soul mate. These creatures are the most loving, loyal and steadfast companion a human being could ever have. If only human beings could take some lessons from the humble canine, the world would be a much better place.
Often when a human meets their dog for the first time there is an instant connection or bond. Most of us have been lucky to have felt it. It’s the feeling when you are at the breeder or the animal shelter and you get to hold all the pups before you choose one, but there is that one special one, that one puppy that tugs at your heartstrings when you look into its eyes.
That one little pup that snuggles into you and lays it head on your chest or the pup that sits there and looks at you so intently, making you oblivious to the other pups running around, falling all over each other. He’s the one, the one that is looking at you, the one listening to your heart beat, he is your soul mate.
Sometimes we are privileged to have an older dog come into our lives. Sometimes they appear when it appears they need to be saved, like from a dog shelter or as a stray, but often dogs come into our lives when it is us who need them.
The relationship and the bond with the puppy or the older dog just grows and strengthens over the years until you become one and the same. Everywhere you go, so does your dog. Every great thing that happens, you share with your dog. Every bad thing that happens, he or she is there is to listen and console you, with no judgement, just devotion.
At K9 Photography, pet photographer on the Gold Coast, we couldn’t agree more with the statement My dog – My soul mate. We see that connection every time we have a pet photography shoot with a dog and his or her owner.
That earthly and eternal bond is real and we can capture that on film to give you a lifetime of happy memories of the relationship between you and your beloved dog.
If you would us like to capture a moment in time of you and your soul mate, call Diana at K9 Photography on 0423 587 226 for a professional pet photography session.
